The explosive growth in photography book publishing has presented photo-eye with an interesting challenge along with what we think is an exciting opportunity.
How can we continue to offer an ever-increasing inventory of photography books, keep those books continuously in stock and compete with the online deep discounters on price and shipping? The answer is that we can shift much our fullfillment to the web's most efficient book operation, Amazon.com.
Now we are happy to offer you Amazon's discounts on books which are almost always in stock from either Amazon directly or Amazon Marketplace. We can also provide you with the same shipping options that Amazon provides, including on qualified orders, free shipping.
It's important to understand that you will still be supporting photo-eye if you order from Amazon or Amazon Marketplace through photoeye.com. We make it easy for you to do this by providing a dual shopping cart system with separate checkouts.
However, you may still opt to purchase a particular title from photo-eye directly even though the same book is available through Amazon at a less expensive price.
Book publishing is not a perfect industry. Though all books are imperfect in some subtle way, we want to be as accurate as possible on our website if we know that there is a problem with a particular book. Imperfections range from a rubbed dustjacket, a small tear in the dustjacket, or a corner of the book being bumped. No fundamental flaw should be part of an imperfect book's condition. E-mail us our call 505.988.5152 should you have questions prior to ordering a particular imperfect book.
Place your order now and we'll send you the item when it arrives.
You will not be charged until your order ships.
An additional change will be added to the standard handling charge for this item as it is a foreign publication and shipping expenses from foreign countries is extremely expensive or it requires a larger, more expensive box or it requires extra care in handling. Thank you for understanding!
Known for his well-crafted portraits and sensuous male and female nudes, Greg Gorman is one of the most sought-after and highly acclaimed photographers working today and, doubtless, part of the star-making machine that is Hollywood. Over the previous two decades, Gorman has worked obsessively, carving out a classically refined style that is uniquely his own. His images-whether personality portraits for celebrities, fine artwork, or major ad campaigns-suggest a mastery of the medium that few have rivaled. One recognizes a Gorman photograph for its atmospheric lighting, flawless posing and composition, and unabashed sense of glamour and eroticism. These are the hallmarks that have made Gorman a giant in photography.
In 2000, Gorman surprised and thrilled critics with the first book to delve entirely into his obsession with the male nude. A very personal book, As I See It showed another side of Gorman's work that many had anticipated and were eager to absorb. Although numerous artists have explored the male nude in photography, As I See It revealed a sensual edge and passion rarely seen in this genre.
Now, in Just Between Us, Gorman goes even deeper into his personal obsession, with a bold compilation unmatched for its candor and sexuality. This highly charged work has Gorman focusing his lens exclusively on one model, also named Greg. In their solid year of shooting Just Between Us, an unusual collaborative relationship evolved, which for Gorman was truly exceptional. "As Greg and I began to explore the depths of this photographic relationship, so to speak, it soon became obvious that to complete a body of work as obsessive as this was becoming, we needed to include the sexual aspects of Greg's personality as well." What unfolds is a photographic narrative unfettered by convention or popular mores. It is a cinematic-like journey that explores the deepest aspects of mutual trust and the precarious balance of the model/artist relationship.
Just Between Us represents Gorman's most authentic, perhaps most inspired body of work to date. Men and women alike will thrill to this erotic and sexually charged series.
Born in Kansas City in 1949, Greg Gorman began his career in photography in 1969, when he borrowed a friend's camera to shoot Jimi Hendrix in concert. Two weeks later, he did the same for a Doors show. Thirty years later, Gorman has become one of the leading photographic artists of his time, shooting ad campaigns, directing music videos, and portraying the most compelling luminaries of film, music, and sports.
